Copper is back.

While we’re on the subject of webcomics, Kazu Kibuishi’s wonderful strip Copper is updating again after a year-long hiatus. There’s only one comic per month, but each is cleverly designed and beautifully drawn, like the best Calvin and Hobbes Sunday strips. It’s usually poignant instead of laugh-out-loud funny, somewhat in the spirit of Peanuts.

Everything for dummies.

Perhaps the greatest Ask MetaFilter question of all time: What single book is the best introduction to your field (or specialization within your field) for laypeople? There are over two hundred answers, and the fields covered range from fencing to homicide investigation to theoretical astrophysics. You could build a pretty good library from this link.
